Welcome to the Dungeons & Dragons section of my
website. Within this section there is information
pertaining to the various campaigns I am currently running
or planning on running. It also has a small database of
files for those who play in the campaigns, or some files I
think are helpful for the general D&D player.
I have been playing D&D ever since January 1997. The
first session ever, took place in a McDonalds after an
exam. I had my Players Handbook on me and was excited. I
was telling my gathered friends about the game, and they
all had made characters. So, we decided to play. I made a
simple adventure and we played until 7 o'clock. We started
at around 12:30. Since then, little has changed. The people
I play with slowly changed, and currently I don't play with
the same people as that fateful day. But, I'll never forget
the snowy January afternoon that so quickly turned to
night.
From then, we expanded. My friend had an apartment with his
dad that we played at most of the time. We usurped the
dining room table and played from as early as we wanted to
sundown. Every day for the majority of the summer.
Eventually we changed houses, my friends basement, my other
friends basement... it was crazy. We played Magic (it was
cool then), and Middle-Earth. Shortly after, our lives got
more and more complicated. So, it turned into a weekly
thing. some people came and left. But, we never stopped
playing.
That was Second Edition. That was back when TSR was a
company. Since then Wizards of the Coast has taken control
of D&D. I don't think many of us are disappointed with
that. As many of you know, 3rd edition came out, then soon
after 3.5.
I remember playing in my friends basement with 3rd edition
for the first time. I had poured over the PHB numerous
times, trying to figure out this new 'skill' system. We
played the free adventure, and it was a hit. We didn't look
back.
Now, 8 years later, we still play, though University and
other obligations keep us from it every week. The urge to
gather around a table and play for hours on end still
drives us together. I have moved from making up adventures
in a McDonalds to writing campaign settings. We have seen
characters grow, save the world, fall off cliffs, succumb
to treachery, and become heroes. The story continues...
