Trainer Type Aircrafts
Avistar 40
This is the plane that I learned flying on. This is The Avistar 40 Mark
II manufactured by Hobbico. It is an AWARF (All Wood Almost Ready To Fly).
It takes less time to build than the kits. Most parts come joined and sheeted.
Its semi-symmetrical airfoil offers the capability to perform many of the
aerobatic maneuvers of a sport plane, while maintaining the stable landing
characteristics of a trainer. I think it is one of the best planes to start
with.
Specifications:
Wingspan: 59.5 in (1510 mm) Weight: 5 lb (2270g)
Fuselage Length: 48 in (1220 mm)
Requires: 2-stroke .35-.46 cu in (5.5-7.5cc) or 4-stroke .40-.52 cu
in (6.5-8.5cc) engine & 4 channel radio with 4 servos
Trainer 40
This is manufactured by Great Planes. It comes in the form of a Kit. Going
beyond the basics into aerobatics Allows modelers to go from basics
to aerobatics with just one kit. Docile, low-speed flight makes it perfect
for beginners. Ailerons offer added agility as a pilot's flying skills
advance. Symmetrical airfoils provide good wind penetration for performing
inverted flight, loops and rolls. If you like building, it is perfect for
you.
Specifications:
Wingspan: 59 in (1500 mm) Weight:
4.5-5.75 lb (2040-2610g)
Requires: 2-stroke .25-.45 (4-7.5cc) or 4-stroke .40-.60 (6.5-10cc)
engine, 4-channel radio & 2+ rolls MonoKote
Lanier Comet ARF
A great choice for your second trainer.
Aero Sheet pre covered wing and ABS fuse help the Comet ARF build fast.
The symmetrical airfoil allows you to make the
transition from the basics to beginning aerobatics. Pre formed landing
gear included. This 63" span trainer requires a 2-stroke
.40-.61 or 4-stroke .49-.91 engine and a 4-channel radio.
