- HIC's lecture night was held at Japan Foundation, Toronto
with Mrs. Sumiko Tachinami, a former assistant professor of early-childhood
education at Toyama women's collage, as a guest speaker, followed by a
talk by Mr. Miura, a columnist for The Nikka Times' "Cosmic Talk",
about stars and about Kenji Miyazawa's poem "Hoshi-meguri no Uta".
Reflecting the needs of young Japanese mothers
in Toronto, Mrs. Tachinami's lecture prompted the establishment of Mommies,
a group of mothers with small children.
