Since late 1998, internationally trained doctors in the greater Toronto area began to organize around issues of access to the medical profession in Ontario.

In June 1999, the Maytree Foundation provided funding for a one year project to conduct research and establish a network of foreign trained doctors in the Toronto area and throughout Ontario.

Through the AIPSO (Association of International Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario) registration process, we are developing a database and creating a profile of foreign trained doctors in Ontario. As well, we are working toward establishing a working relationship with the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Ministry of Health, and other government and non-governmental stakeholders to work toward better access for foreign trained doctors in Ontario.
