The Saint You Cannot Resist!

"No one will ever invoke me without obtaining an answer...If I am wrong, I'll come back and tell you..." This was St. Therese

St. Therese information

She was born January 2, 1873 in an obscure French town. She lived just 24 years, the last nine as a nun in a secluded carmelite convent. Yet St. Therese has been hailed as the greatest saint of modern times byt popes, spiritual writers and other saints. She is the great modern messanger of God's love and millions try to imitate her journey to God, which she called her "Little Way".

The Shower of Roses

In life, St. Therese chose to seek God by her own "Little Way".

By constantly reminding herself of God's love and presence, she offered all the "little things" that made her daily life, from morning prayers, to washing clothes, to greeting friends, for His honor and glory. Yet all this she did quietly and gently, for ti was her wish in ,ife to be as "obscure as a grain of sand". Her great mission would begin later, for she said, "After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses. I will spend my heaven doing good upon Earth. I will raise up a mighty host of little saints. My mission is to make God loved..."

Shortly afetr her death, the rain of roses began. Sometimes the roses appeared literally, and sometimes just the fragrance of them. Cures of painful and fatal diseases were attributed to her intercession. Schools, hospitals and orphanages found needed funds suddenly available, often in the form of gifts. She has appeared to thje sick and ill, and soldiers have seen her on the battlefields. Her "little way" of spiritual perfection, which had become widely known throigh her spiritual autobiograph, and the fame of her holiness spread with incredible speed. Indeed, long before her official canonization on May 17, 1925, the "people" had already proclaimed her a saint.

St. Therese appealed to the people, to the child at school and the houswife at her chores, to the working mother and to the migrant worker, to the craftsman and factory worker, the soldierand peace maker, the wealthy and despondant alike.

Therese was so much like us. In her life, there wsa nothing extraordinary, no miracles, no wonders. She was just good. And so the little people of the world who are very often very good, took her to their hearts. St. Therese lived her "little way", wrote her story, and God did the rest. God and the people.

And that is all she ever wanted-to bring God and the people together. While a 21 year old nun in the Carmel of Lisieux, she wrote her sister, "...few souls aspire to be lonely and unknown." Therese chose her "little way" and lonely path to God. She became a most persuasive messanger of His love. And as she promised, she brings His love into the lives of many. Even at this moment, from one end of the earth to th to the other, ths continue to fall.

Five Day Novena to St. Therese

St. Therese, the Little Flower, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love.

Ask God to grant me the favor I implore.

And tell Him I will love Him daily more and more.

This prayer is to be followed by 5 Hail Mary's, 5 Our Fathers, 5 Glory Bee's. You will receive a sign of a rose within five days. For example a family who completed the novena found their house permeated with such a strong scent of roses that even unbeleiving neighbors were awed. A man has a woman come up to him in the subway and simply hand him a rose. One housewife literally had her car filled with roses. (Apparantly some florist wanted to get rid of them) These are just some of St. Therese's great wonders
