Some simple guidelines to
travel
in Russia:
- change currency to Rubles in Russia at a bank for good rates. You can
use bankomats and credit cards but your home bank will charge both
hefty currency and transaction fees. Better to bring cash in a money
belt.
- Electricity - 220 volts with the European 2 round post plug. Most
laptops and many recent hairdryers, etc can operate on both voltages
(please check your appliance) and you may only need the plug adapter -
buy this at a computer shop in North America
- Internet - the hotel has WIFI hotspots.
- Innoculations. There are no special requirements for Russia. Check
with your family doctor to update standard shots.
- Weather. Daytimes will be pleasant to warm with cooler
evenings. Bring layered clothing, comfortable walking shoes and light
raingear.
