Work History:

1985 to 1995: Advo Systems Inc, Orlando, Fl.

Advo Systems is a large Bulk Business Mail processor with mail going into more than 23 million homes in the continental US per week at the time I was working for them. I started as a Bagger, putting bundles of ads into mail bags. Within a few weeks was operating the bundling machines. At this time, there was two people at the end of the collator, one would scoop up the collated and counted packages. This was not something i tolerated for long, as I was able to do both jobs without undue hardship.

Several months later, was promoted to Collator Operator, and, once again, cut down on the amount of labour hours used per machine by feeding my own machine, up to 8 pieces, with less down time due to misfeeds and overruns. Within a couple of years, was, in fact, but not in name, actually running the whole of second shift. I burnt out due to not being able to get rid of problem people. At the time, there was a big drug and alcohol problem on the shift that I was NOT authorized to deal with.

Among the duties and responsibilities that I performed at Advo System was assigning work to machines, which varied due to material availability, mail delivery schedules assigned by USPS and receiving of client materials from their printers. All work had to be done by MONDAY AM, from Wednesday PM.

Just after resigning, Advo Systems Inc instituted a drug testing policy, which under US law is legal.

1995 to 1998: Ramada Inn Longwood Fl.

Maintenance on a 50 year old resort hotel is an always ongoing chore. When not fixing broken pipes, both PVC and Metal, repairing the pool deck, or stringing lights to make the trees look good at night, keeping the security light system working, and so much other ancillary chores that the list is pretty much endless. This job was a stop gap after the stress of Advo.

1998: EZ Computer Help Battle Creek Mi.

Got offered a short term contract (6 months) to install a computer network in a new building that was still under construction. The job only took 3 months, surprising the owner of EZ Computer Help. The server was a DEC ALPHA dual processor that did file storage for the company who ordered it. While spending a lot of money on the hardware that they wanted, they decided to go with a very inexpensive, downloadable operating system known as Linux. I did the work on their file server, which also was doing duty as mail server, web server, sales ftp server, all in a secure enviroment. Far as i know, this machine is still up and running with the original software that was originally installed on it in 1998.

1998 to 2000: various Temporary Agencies Toronto

This period seen a lot of job duties, but really did not accomplish anything except to keep the bills paid. Have manually dug ditches, pulled wiring, jack hammered, warehouse, production, mostly the type of jobs that lead no where, but need to be done.

2000 to 2005: Simulate Handicrafts, Toronto On

The company was sold due to owners retiring. Did not think that the new owners were completely above level with the few remaining employees, so did not accept their job offer.

Simulate produces a wide range of products for customers all over the GTA, Mid-West Ontario and South West Ontario. These products are picked up and finished in less than 3 days for customers in the GTA. I finished as the person who could do everything in the plant, from start to finish, I could 90% of the work that was involved, tho my official title was Saw Operator.

Further Goals:

Would like to use my computer skills and setup and install networks, network administration. Although, other than those 3 months with EZ Computer Help, I have no documental experience in any environment. My administration experience is in a home network environment but have gotten windows machines using linux as a file server, secure gateway, website, ftp site. My isp frowns on incoming calls, so this is sitting on their server instead of my own.

Until I can find something in the IT field or start my own IT firm, am willing to do anything legal for income.
