Late breaking news: It looks as though Mods N Rockers has finally found a new home!! Though the situation with CIUT is no where near resolved, we are currently in negotiations with an internet radio station regarding the broadcast of our program. We would like to appeal to the listeners for your assistance. In order to be approved for airing we need to present our prospective station with old tapes of the show as a demonstration of our abilities, if you have any descent recordings of MNR from the past year or so, please drop them off or mail them to:

As you may have figured out, in the last couple of weeks, Damian, Martin,
Jonathan, Sandy, & I have NOT been permitted to Host 'Mods n Rockers'.

I'll take the blame, management or more specifically, CIUT's Program Director
Nilan Perera has SUSPENED us pending an investigation of comments made by all
of us in a July 2 Discussion about RACISM, HOMOPHOBIA, and ANTI-SEMITISM
rearing it's ugly Head in our Musical Scene.

It would appear that NILAN has a relationship with the accused racist, Dan of
the El Mocambo, and instead of rallying against racial hatred in our scene or
investigating the matter further, he's intent on crucifying the victims
themselves-US! Shame on you Nilan Perera...

This would explain why NILAN appeared on Mods n Rockers 2 weeks ago, July 17,
and apoligized 6 Times on behalf of the M&R Staff, WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION.
This also explains NILAN's rather rude and confrontational demeanor with M&R
Staff over the Last Year. This also explains why NILAN irrationaly tried to
cancel M&R Last March after a Turntable Needle went missing, or his attempt
to force us to go bi-weekly alternating with a Nu Ska show by SKIP, after
being weekly for over a decade. This also explains why SKIP has been
programming M&R over the last couple of weeks, using our Theme, our name, and
pretending that everything is hunkey-dorey, when in fact the show will in
fact NEVER air again on CIUT-FM.

Please don't blame Skip! Please Thank him for filling in for us, and wish him
lick with his Nu SKA Show. BUT also understand, that the show he is
temporarily programming is NOT mods n rockers, but an attempt by CIUT
Management to convince you the listening public that Mods n Rockers will
continue without it's founder or present-day programmers. It's NOT!

No Offense to NILAN or SKIP, but the temporary Show is SHITE,,,It sucks the
big one…..and it's OVER! Nilan has convinced our Nu Station Manager to
suspend all of us for one year until July of 2001.

So, on one hand we APOLIGIZE for fucking up, and in exposing RACISM, falling
in the trap of Racists and Racist Friends in providing a Legal context to
muzzle the Music and our method of presenting it to you…..On the other, we
promise NOT to back down and we pledge to continue to be involved in our
scene, be it fanzines, another radio Show at another Station, or maybe a
LEGAL fight to the finish which will expose NILAN's and CIUT's trampling of
our basic Human Rights and Freedom of Speech.

What can you do…..For one thing…Fuckin STOP supporting the El Mocambo, or
rather Dan's Shows at the El Mocambo. Why…well On July 20th at a Frogs Show,
Dan not only refused to pay the Frogs what he had agreed too, but started
calling them 'JEWS' for wanting to be paid, and 'KIKES' for Simply demanding
to be treated in a fair manner. A Longtime Campus Programmer witnessed the
event and reported it to your truly. This follows Dan's treatment of a Jewish
Programmer and Gay manager at Lee's Palace where he addressed them as a
'Jewish Lesbian Kike' and a 'Fucking Jewish loving Cock Sucking Fag'….This
also follows his personal harrassment of the Mods & Rockers Staff and ATG
Concert Talent Buyers, which stems from an incident where the Elmo Lost and
Andre Williams Show cos Dan threw a Pint Glass at the Promoters Head.

What else can you do. You can call NILAN or his Boss BRIAN BURCHELL (Station
Manager) at 416-978-0909 or Fax 416-946-7004 and enquire as to why Mods n
Rockers is off the Air, or why someone else has co-opted the program, or why
it is wrong to expose RACISM on air, or why we've been suspended, and ask
them to reconsider their actions in crucifying the victims of Dan's
harrassment in the first place….

In the meantime, we will continue to send ya'll updated Concert Listings,
Keep helping EWAN, TIDAL WAVE, and Others Promote their Shows, and we are
seeking LEGAL advice against NILAN and CIUT.

Keep the Faith, please keep going to shows, please keep listening to the
radio…..keep fostering this scene, and together we will eradicate the
racism…….
