The Goddess - A Personal PerspectiveMost Wiccan women I know were alienated from their birth religions because of the extensive focus only on the male aspect of divinity, homophobic/vengeful/women aren't going to get to heaven but the preacher needs women to hem altar cloths so he'll patronize us with stories of submissive women of Biblical proportions god of my friends upbringing, this wasn't a God I could respect and call Father no one needed this type of an abusive father figure but however this is how and why most females come to look into Wicca. I've also learned finally to accept my own beauty, and I've learned much more about how my body image ties in with my sensuality. I consider the Wiccan perspective on sex and beauty, that it's all about mutual consent and how you choose to see yourself the type of rules, guidelines and morals that best suits my personality. I believe that the strongest reasons I am still Wiccan comes back to my most basic value: honor that has been passed down to me from family. Wicca is a religion entirely based upon honor. I keep my word, and I expect others to keep their word. If I make a commitment, I will follow it through. I respect absolutely the free will of those around me. I do not expect a person to share my opinion, and in turn I refuse to be forced to think a certain way. Wicca suits me. Or perhaps, more importantly, I suit Wicca and that is why I guess I am a Wiccan. ~copyright Diana Rajchel 1998
