Active MeditationFirst, find a spot where you won't be disturbed. That includes by people, by phones, by any loud noises. Sit or lie down, whichever is more comfortable for you. Just remember that it's much easier to fall asleep while lying down. Close your eyes, and breath in deeply for a count of 5, then breath out for a count of 10. Repeat this as many times as necessary until you're relaxed. While in that relaxed state, instead of visualizing an object like you would in a passive meditation you're going to visualize a scene. Any scene that you wish, I prefer to use a river with a waterfall next to it, surrounded by a lush green forest and birds singing all around me. But you can use anything you want. You're only limited by your imagination. Like passive meditation, you want to see, feel, hear EVERYTHING that's going on around you. Make it seem like a movie and you're interacting with it. Just let stuff happen. Don't force it. Keep this scene going on in your mind for as long as you want. This is called active meditation. ~Xanth
