Remote Island

36" x 48"  oil on canvas

Small remote islands are a common sight in northern Ontario lakes. I was first inspired for this painting during a canoe trip in Algonquin Park. My companions and I would camp on islands like this to avoid the bears. In the early morning mist the island seems to take on the air of a fortress.
