Overseer Secret

At the end of the game, when you're talking with the overseer, there's a way to continue the game without going to the ending sequence. You can always come back and see it later, but if there's still some unfinished business, you can still take care of it.

When talking with the overseer in front of Vault 13, quickly press 'A'. When you go into combat mode (before or after the conversation) your goal is to get to the cave's exit. To do this you have to make sure combat doesn't end. If it does, you finished the game, but you don't want that, right? That's why you're reading this.

There's no really good way of doing this, however. Normally, I'd suggest you attack the Overseer without killing him (with a flare or a throwing knife or something) but that doesn't quite work. The ending part didn't get very much attention (probably because the programmers weren't counting on such clever gamers). The Overseer has 27 HP, but even if you hit him for 2 HP he explodes into bloody chunks. Next turn, he forms into his body again and either attacks you or runs away. If you choose to do it that way, that's fine. Head for the exit and leave.

Another way to do it is to save just before you finish the Military Base or the Cathedral (whichever one you're doing second) and open up the Fallout Character Editor. Edit your character's AP to like 200, and at the Vault 13 Caves, just walk out without having to attack the Overseer.

When you get to the exit you're free to continue adventuring. When you come back to the gave you'll get the videos about Shady Sands, the Brotherhood and the Raiders again, but maybe they'll be different (if you changed anything). You have the same chat with the Overseer and then you've finished the game.
