In Ancient Greece, the word for amber was "elektron", which was derived from the word "elektor" which meant "sun's glare". Thales of Miletos spoke about the attractive properties, of amber around the period between 640 B.C. to 546 B.C. This electrostic property in amber is today applied to phenomena or any apparatus associated with electronics or electricity.

According to the introduction in the autobiography "The Strange life of Nikola Tesla", Tesla is the true unsung prophet of the electric age; without whom our radio, auto ignition, telephone, alternating current power generation and transmission, radio and television would all have been impossible. This book provides a fascinating description of imagery in an inventive mind.
