You will be involved in researching a particular environmental issue and searching the Internet for related sites and information. You will then create a Home Page for that issue which will help anyone who accesses your Home Page to understand it.
There will be 8 groups of 3 students. One topic per group.
Please E-mail me your topic if you haven't chosen it in class and informed me.
1) Your research should include:
- at least 3 pages of information single-spaced
- at least 2 graphics, which are taken from a site on the Web, or can be scanned in using a scanner (scanner is in Library)
- at least 5 related sites on the Web which will enhance your topic (you can use these links within your text material or you can list them at the end of a section of text)
2) You will also prepare and submit 5 in-depth questions about the information on your pages that another student who visited your site would answer (with complete answers submitted on a separate page) You should
1) explain the issue - the problems and causes of the problem AND
2) provide a discussion on the possible solutions. Include any new government policies, changes in public attitudes/action, or new technologies or inventions which would help improve the situation.
Try to break up your information into distinct chunks of information to be placed on separate pages. Link each page to the next and provide a link back to your 1st page on each of your pages which allows anyone to navigate through your pages easily. I will explain how this is done. You should also link your first page back to my Environmental Topics page at
I have a collection of images, buttons, backgrounds etc. on a CD-ROM which you can look through. It is published by Corel and a book of the images comes with it. Make your choices by recording the name of the image along with the path name at the top of the page in the Corel Book, and I will copy them onto your floppy. Or use images linked from the home page of the course.
(NOTE: PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL YOUR PAGES AND IMAGES MUST BE ON ONE FLOPPY) or you can E-mail me your file(s)
If you need to scan in images for your pages, we have a scanner in the Library that can be used. Each scan takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. Also, scanned images are usually very large so use them sparingly since someone accessing your page(s) would have to wait for all your images to load before they could read your page(s).
Evaluation of your site will be done by other class members and myself.
