This privately run museum is a must to see. It was founded by
Mr. Robert Heyne a well-known local historian. Together with Mr. Peter Graf one of the
leading experts on the battle and the battlefield.(Weapons display)
Not just the military but also the civilian history of the region is on display.(Room display around 1900),(Early Work-Shop)
Under his and Mr. Graf's initiative the battlefield was developed
and saved for future generations to come.
Under the leadership of both gentlemen the group Jena 1806 was formed. The group is well
known by many re-enactors of the Napoleonic time-period. The battle re-enactments (Drum and Sword)
undertaken every five years by the group, bring together many different people from all-over Europe.(Weapons display)(Room display around 1900)

The group restored the old monuments, new stone markers were set to give the visitor a
clear idea of what happened in the battle. It was also the group who led the successful
fight against a windpark right on the battlefield.
