What qualifications do I need?

Be a graduate in medicine from an approved medical school - 24 months of postgraduate training in Canada.

What exams do I need to write?

Evaluation Exam OR Qualifying Exam Part 1
 
What are the residency/immigration requirements?

You must be able to satisfy the registrar that you are legally entitled to work in Canada.

What are the language requirements?

Score of 600 in the TOEFL exam if your medical school training was done in a language other than English.

How much does it all cost?

Evaluating Exam $1000
Qualifying Exam Part 1 $ 650
Registration fee $ 100

What else do I need?

Evidence of good character: You need references from people who have known you for three or more years - Complete application form - Current resume - Interview with the College (for the interview you will need to bring: original medical degree, the original documents saying that you have passed the Evaluating Exam or the Qualifying Exam Part 1, proof that you worked as a physician in your country (registration information), and a certificate of good standing from your country dated within three months of the interview

What are the steps I need to take?

Write Evaluation Exam OR Qualifying Exam Part 1 - Gather all your documents and certificates - Submit your application - Bring above noted documents at the time of the interview - After obtaining a temporary license as a family physician, you have three years to write the Qualifying Part 1 (if you have not done so) and Part 2 - If you are a specialist, you have five years to write the specialist exams
 
 

Full License

The requirements are the same for a full license as for the temporary license but you must also pass the Qualifying Exam Part I and II.
