Be a graduate in medicine from an approved medical school • Certificate of Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) • Certificate in Family Medicine or Specialty

What are the residency/immigration requirements?
You must be able to satisfy the registrar that you are legally able to work in Canada.
What are the language requirements?
Score of 600 in the TOEFL exam and 50 in the TSE.

(This registration is for
doing general medicine in a specified rural community)
What qualifications do I need?
Be a graduate in medicine from an approved medical school (North American or listed in the Wold Health Organization; The school must have been offering medical education for more than 10 years and offer a medical training program of at least 48 months) - Certificate of Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) - Satisfy the College that you have completed a 24 month training program with a 60 week training course that includes 12 weeks in family medicine and at least 8 weeks in each of medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry and emergency medicine

Satisfy the College that you will commence practice immediately upon registration - You must agree in writing to comply with the conditions, limitations, and restrictions imposed on the applicant - You must complete a period of peer assessment in Alberta (2 weeks) - You must complete a period of supervised integration into the practice of medicine in Alberta (3 months)

Special Register License – Conditional Defined Practice or Military Practice
(This registration is for doing a medical practice limited to the activities of a specialty discipline in a specified practice setting on or off a military base).
What qualifications do I need?
Be a graduate in medicine from an approved medical school (North American or listed in the World Health Organization; The school must have been offering medical education for more than 10 years and offer a medical training program of at least 48 months) - Certificate of Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) - Satisfy the College that you have completed a specialty certification outside Canada that is substantially equal to the specialty certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is recognized by Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (They only accept applicants who either hold certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties or have been assessed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as being eligible to challenge the Royal College certification examinations)

Register License – Provisional Practice
(This registration is for
practicing medicine in a community designated as having an emergency requirement
by the Minister of Health)
*Note: The College is unable to accept applications for this license until they receive written confirmation from a Regional Health Authority confirming that the applicable community is designated by the Minister of Health as having an emergency requirement for medical services and the applicable Regional Health Authority is willing to sponsor an applicant’s application. This license is only valid for up to 30 months.
