Position:
Program Coordinator
Qualifications:
The qualified person
should possess:
- Experience working with
volunteer boards and committees
- Ability and skill in coordinating
programs and meetings on and off site
- Experience working with
isolated seniors
- Knowledge of the Tamil
Community and be able to speak and read Tamil
- Excellent spoken and written
skills in English
- Ability to work with and
train senior volunteers in peer support
- Experience in organizing
workshops, cultural and social events and programs
- Ability to produce promotional
and educational material including newsletters
- Anti-racism perspective
Responsibilities include:
- Day to day functioning
of thee center, including administrative tasks
- Record keeping / filing
system and book keeping skills
- Volunteer recruitment
and development
- Liaising between various
boards, committees, community groups involved in the project
- All aspects of event coordination,
including publicity, budget development, coordination of volunteers, and
follow up
- Outreach to seniors' groups
to set up client and membership base for programs
- Writing reports on programs
- Maintaining linkage with
the Implementation Task Group and the Chinese
- Seniors' Health Center
and Mount Sinai Hospital
Initial Contract: One year
