SETTLEMENT PROGRAM WORKER

(Part Time)

RIWC is a community agency that provides Settlement and Wife Assault services to South Asian and Chinesespeaking women and their families. We are currently looking for a part-time, Tamil speaking settlement worker to provide Settlement Support services to the Tamil speaking community.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 Provide crisis and supportive individual, family and group counselling on issues of settlement. cutural dislocation, intergenerational conflicts, family conflict and mediation. Facilitate group sessions for newcomers, seniors and assaulted women on health, employment, life skills, parenting, legal issues, etc.
Provide advocacy, escort, interpretation and translation services for housing, medical, welfare and legal issues.
Maintain up to date client files.
Collect and submit statistical reports as needed.
Perform outreach and liaison with community agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post secondary Education, Social Service degree/diploma and/or relevant experience
• Extensive knowledge of issues and resources concerning immigrant women and their families 
• Awareness of race and gender specific issues 
• Verbal and written fluency in Tamil is essential

SALARY :  $14.27 per hour, 17.5 hours per week
