| Review:Despite the title, only four of the 16 titles that comprise this CD are actually performed by a big band. Trumpeter Chet Baker is featured with an 11-piece group for those selections, plays in a nonet for six others and with a sextet for the remainder. The arrangements of Jimmy Heath, Jack Montrose, Johnny Mandel, Bill Holman, Christian Chevallier, Pierre Michelot and Phil Urso really bring out the best in Baker, making this a highly enjoyable and varied set. -- Scott Yanow, All Music Guide |
