Review:Pianist McCoy Tyner's many recordings for Milestone are all
easily recommended although a surprisingly large number of them have not
yet been reissued on CD, including this one. Tyner's septet (which
includes violinist John Blake, the reeds of Joe Ford and George Adams,
bassist Charles Fambrough, drummer Al Foster and percussionist Guilherme
Franco) performs two originals apiece by Tyner and Blake; the pianist is
also heard with the rhythm trio on Fambrough's "One For Honor." None of
the compositions had much life beyond this recording but they serve as
fine vehicles for inventive improvisations. — Scott Yanow
