Have a great summer adventure filled with fun, exciting challenges, great food, comfortable bunkhouse accommodations and friendly staff. It all adds up to having the summer of your life!

        Camp friends!

        The Program:

Quiet Place Stables introduces campers of all abilities to the challenges and responsibilities of taking care of horses under the supervision of our CHA Certified Instructors of both English and Western seats.

It all starts with the selection of the proper horse based on your experience and ability. Then, under the watchful eye of our instructors, you will learn how to catch and saddle him for the day's activities. During your stay at Quiet Place Stables, you will learn how to keep your horse healthy, groom him, clean tack and, of course, ride!

Mornings begin with taking care of the horses. Early morning feeding and rounding up the horses provide memories to last a lifetime. Each day will include lessons in our fenced riding arenas, practice of your speed events such as barrel racing, jumping for our more experienced English riders and trail rides on one of the many trails throughout our 100 acres or on the surrounding thousands of acres of Crown land. Theory lessons and videos cover horse care, barn maintenance, breeds, tack care and safety.

Our riding program provides extensive riding and lesson time during our twice daily lessons. Days are filled with horse related activities geared toward developing horsemanship skills and accomplished riders. Our multi-level program follows the Certified Horsemanship Association guidelines allowing campers to work toward achieving their Rider Levels 1 to 4 certification. The CHA is an international organization dedicated to excellence in instruction, safety, and skill development in young riders.

Other camp activities include: swimming, canoeing, fishing, playing volleyball, baseball, soccer, archery, roping and tetherball. There are miles of hiking trails and streams to explore. Arts and crafts and story telling around the nightly campfire are just a few of the activities you will enjoy before heading back to the bunkhouse to dream about the day's activities! Campers staying for more than one week will take part in area tours and special events.

Our residential camp is for campers from 8 years of age, with Weeks 1 to 7 being Girls Camps and Weeks 8 and 9 being Co-ed camps. Camp starts at 3:00 pm Sunday afternoon and ends Saturday at 11:00 am after our rodeo. Parents are invited to attend this grand finale every Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Cheer your camper on at our Camper's Rodeo and Horse Riding Demonstration . Awards and presentations are given to the campers at this time. Every camper also receives a free Quiet Place Stables t-shirt.

Campers have come to Quiet Place from such spots as China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bermuda, New Zealand, Germany, The Netherlands, England, USA (Colorado, California, Texas, Rhode Island, Washington, Virginia, Connecticut, New York, Michigan, Hawaii) and Canada (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Alberta, Nunavut, Ontario, British Columbia). Transportation can be provided to or from the Toronto or Ottawa Airports.

        Instruction:

With emphasis on riding time and hands-on training, our instructors and staff constantly strive to reach the right work/play balance between horsemanship and fun. The 30 weekly campers are divided into 5 riding groups with 6 campers in each group and one instructor and one assistant. Arena lessons and/or trail rides take place every morning and evening. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:3 during riding lessons and 1:5 for all other camp activities.

The aim of our program is to provide fun while facilitating learning in a safe and enjoyable manner. Riding helmets are mandatory. If you do not have your own, one will be provided. Proper footware is also essential. Boots with a heel no smaller than 1/2" and no higher than 2" are required.

A stay at Quiet Place Stables introduces a camper to the joys of horsemanship. Riding lessons by our instructors develop balance, co-ordination and self-esteem. Mastering control over a 1,000 pound animal definitely improves self confidence! Daily horse chores increase the bond between each camper and their horse, while allowing them to learn how to work safely around large animals.
