Only mounted Brunswick unit going to North-America. According to the signed
treaty horses were not shiped but were to be supplied in Canada.
The shortage of horses in Canada made it impossible for the unit
to get mounted. Only around 30 men received horses in North-America.
To protect the legs of the dragoons they wore heavy leather boots.
Before the unit marched out of Brunswick they received regular shoes
and wore gaiters. It is almost impossible to march for a longer distance
with the regular heavy cavalry boots.
